Radar Guns and Travel Lust

Do you remember the scene in The Rookie where Dennis Quaid's character pulls over on the side of the highway after seeing the "your speed is" radar sign? Well, the past week one of these signs has been sitting on Austin Ave and I have taken it as a personal challenge on each of my runs.  This is the second time it has been there and I love it!  I remember passing another runner the first time it was out and yelled across the street, with a huge grin on his face, asking me if I had seen the radar sign yet.  Apparently he appreciated the personal challenge as well.  The only problem is that it is in the first mile of my runs and the sign forces me into a dead sprint to see how high I clock myself.  Nevertheless, I'll enjoy it until they move it away yet again.

Fahrenheit 9/11 was in Waco this weekend.  I somewhat wanted to go see it, but did not head out.  I think my opinion is pretty clearly formed from all that I have read about it, but would still like to view it, however I do have an issue with supporting him by buying a ticket to the film.  I might try to see it this week, but I'll buy a ticket for another show.

My travel lust is in full swing lately.  I've been reading You Shall Know Our Velocity, and it has definitely renewed the itch.  I could just use a good couple weeks somewhere outside the US.  I know there is much to see here, but I just enjoy getting away from a more familiar culture and experiencing somewhere new.  I've always had a dream to spend a year traveling, and while I don't necessarily see myself doing that in the next couple years, I know I still want to eventually.  My plan would be to pick 12 countries (more specifically one spot in each country) and stay there for one month each.
