Rainy Days
There was a good thunderstorm that rolled in last night. I absolutely love thunderstorms! I had my window open a bit and slept GREAT as a result. However when I woke up (or tried to wake up) it was still dark, rain hitting the window, and thunder rolling every now and then. I can not think of better sleep-in weather then this! The snooze button was absolutely abused this morning! My original intention was to get up at 6:20 this morning.... I managed to roll out of bed at about 7:15ish. Not too bad considering the circumstances!
So, now I'm trying to think of everything I might rather be doing then working:
1 - Sleeping
2 - Sitting in my leather chair, feet up, window open, reading a book
3 - Watching a movie
4 - Going for a run (I love running in the rain on a warm day - awesome!)
5 - Sitting on my back porch with a cup of coffee (touch of Baily's please - okay, a little bit more)
Your favorite rainy day activities?
Just thought of another good question:
Your favorite rainy day music? I'm currently listening to Pete Yorn - Day I Forgot

Please forgive me, Father... for I have not Blogged..
Okay, so I got back from vacation last Wed, but just haven't gotten around to getting back into the blogging swing of things. I have kept you waiting in suspense long enough though and shall now begin blogging once more (please, please - hold your applause) Spring Training - Is there really anything better in life then this?? I think not. I got up most mornings for a 1 hour run on the beach. That right there was enough for me (yes - even more so then the ball games). For me great runs in new surroundings is the most relaxing, mind clearing, energy-building thing that I could ever do. It is just so therapeutic for me. Most afternoons were spent at the ballpark. We caught 3 games against the Expos, Mets, and Orioles. We took 2 of the 3, so I was happy. Got some great seafood and just enjoyed getting to hang out with the fam for the week.
I got back Wed afternoon and almost killed myself with my activities for the rest of the day. I went for a 5 mile run, followed by a 12 miles bike, follow by an hour & a half of basketball in the evening. I must have thought that I was 18 again or something - I could barely move on Thursday! Going back to work on Thursday was... well - it was going back to work. No bueno.
Sat morning was the Race For The Cure 5K. This was my 3rd race of the season and by far my best. I know what you're thinking..... did you puke, Tom?? Ah yes, the greatest accomplishment of this race - not puking. Good times. The race was absolutely packed. They had about 8,000 show up for the 5K (most of which were walking). I squeezed my way to the front of the line (didn't want to be in the back of an 8,000 pack) and took off at the start. After about the first half-mile the front leaders started to separate from the mid-packers. I somehow managed to stay between the two breaks, however that left me running with almost no one the entire race. I crossed mile 2 feeling good and saw that my chip time was 13:51 - averaging about a 6:55 mile. I was pretty pumped about this and was hoping to match my 5K PR when I ran 7:00 minute miles a couple years ago. Usually my last mile is not my best mile, I somehow found myself running my fastest mile of the race on mile 3!! I think I ran #3 in a 6:35!!! I ended up finishing the race in 21:14 and a 6:48/mile average!! Not the best time in the world, but the fastest I've ever run in a race. The worst part??? They mixed up my bib number!!!! Some girl named Hope got my time and finished 2nd place in her division with my time!! Go figure. Cheers - Tom
